The benefits of wool

Few things are better suited to the Norwegian climate than just wool, but even with relatively widespread use of wool in this country, we produce only a small part of the wool we need in Norway. The major wool manufacturers worldwide are Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Aclima takes a great distance from mulesing and only purchases wool from manufacturers who do not use this method. There are over 200 different sheep breeds in the world, and most breeds are crossings. You may know Merino wool? That name comes from just the breed Merino sheep, which is originally from Spain. Over half of the world's sheep are pure Merino or Merino crossing – which is similar to great wool. Merino wool is a very fine-grained wool, which will not itch your body.
 

There are many other benefits of wool as well. Did you know, for example, that wool absorbs sweat and water vapour, and that it also insulates well when it's wet. It's among the most versatile fibers that exist - it's resilient, durable and resistant to dirt and water, which in turn causes odors to not get caught in the garment. Wool is also fire retardant thanks to its high content of nitrogen and natural moisture. The conclusion is that in woolen clothes we keep dry when it's hot and warm when it's cold.
